Artist's Comments

"The Dark is Rising" sequence by Susan Cooper isn't translated officially in Russia yet, but there are few certain projects of people, who help to bring this fairytale to our children. One of these projects is provided by one of Russia's greates publishers, and I know they started with the second book (which is called the same, as the whole sequence - "The Dark Is Rising") and I know they STILL need a cover...

So - I couldn't stay still and do nothing with this knowledge in my head.)))

CREDITS

Hope you enjoy.)))
Merry upcoming Christmas!)))

Wow, very good work on the ilustration.
Just one "graphic design" advice, there's too much negative white space in the picture, if i were to use this as the cover of my book, i'd like to define the area of the illustration, maybe with a little detail in each corner or something like that.

Wonderful illustration :)

Brilliant! I love the whole feel of this... the darkness in the top corner, the detail on his clothing and face...the way it kind of fades in to the background. I'd totally forgotten about this series, which I read as a little kid... it makes me want to go read them again. :)
